You can’t go wrong with a machine that will do some of the hard work for you!

Reviews of the Top Sewing Machines for Making Clothes

As Amazon’s best seller, this computerised sewing machine is filled with fantastic features for a very reasonable price! While definitely feature heavy, it’s a fairly lightweight machine at just 16 lbs. Portability is a plus – you can carry this machine to your sewing class! This machine has great value in that it comes with several extra features that mostly only the more expensive sewing machines include.

The Brother CS6000i also has an automatic needle and bobbin threader. This makes a difficult task so much easier. I don’t know about you, but as I age it is harder to hold things steady and see such a tiny needle hole and get the thread fished through it easily and quickly. Thanks to this machine doing it for me, I don’t need to grab my glasses.

Speaking of thread, this machine comes with 60 built-in stitches and a well lit working area. This is really helpful when sewing darker material.

This machine has a removable table for sewing a larger piece of material – great for clothing or even quilting.

The hard carrying case for this machine keeps it protected when it’s being transported. This great little case makes it easy and convenient to pack up your machine and take it to a friend’s house or to visit the family at Christmastime.

The Singer 2259 is a great compact machine for those who are new to sewing on a machine, and even for children to learn on. It comes with 19 basic stitches, including a zig zag stitch, available at the turn of the dial. It is a solid machine with a heavy duty metal frame.

This machine is good for normal fabric, but is not able to sew through heavy denim or thick seams. If you need to sew something thicker, it’s a good idea to switch out your needle to a denim needle or ball-point needle.

Fast and simple threading on this machine will save you some time, and sure beats doing things the manual way. In Addition, it comes with four presser feet the snap on and off.

For most people, this little machine will do the trick, and it also falls into their budget range at just over $100. This Singer is a classically well-designed machine, fit for beginners or novices. We rate this as a top notch domestic sewing machine!

One thing to note on this machine is that it’s 110 Voltage is meant only for use in Canada or the United States.

Our selection above should make your decision a little easier as to which is the best sewing machine for making clothes. Growing up, my mother made our clothes with a Pfaff sewing machine, and it worked well.  However, today we believe our recommendation of the Brother CS6000i is the best choice and gets you the most value for your money in a machine. We want you to be able to design and create your own clothes with the ease and efficiency of a quality machine. While we usually prefer the Janome machines in other specialty categories, for clothing we do prefer this Brother sewing machine. The machine comes with several extra items that can’t be beat in this price range. This machine comes with everything to meet your needs and will be just what you are looking for! The most important thing is that this machine allows you to complete your custom clothing projects and that you are satisfied at the end of the day!
